Pasdec Automotive Technologies sponsors local school
in honour of Nelson Mandela on his 94th birthday
Brits, August 2012
In honour of Nelson Mandela on his 94th birthday and in line with the company’s established corporate social investment programmes, Pasdec Automotive Technologies has made a number of contributions to the educational, sporting and infrastructural needs of a local school.
After having assessed the needs of various schools in Lethlabile, Oukasie, Ga-Rankuwa, and Mabaluka, Pasdec chose to sponsor The Molelwaneng Primary School in Lethlabile. The school has more than 700 schoolchildren and plays an important role in one of the communities that houses many of Pasdec’s staff.
Pasdec’s sponsorship for 2012 includes a significant cash donation, the provision of sports equipment and the upgrading of the school’s media centre.
According to Kevin Pather, Pasdec’s CEO and Managing Director, the objective of celebrating Mandela Day is to inspire individuals, organisations and institutions to adopt actions that help to change lives and improve social circumstances.
“By helping to empower communities with sustainable projects, particularly in the field of education” says Pather, “businesses like Pasdec can ensure that they make every day a Mandela Day.”
Attending the sponsorship ceremony at Molelwaneng Primary School was Dato' Kamaruddin bin Mohammed, the Chairman of Pasdec Automotive Technologies, as well as the board of directors, most of whom had flown out from Malaysia.
The Pasdec delegation was greeted by the school’s head master, Mr William Mogotsi and a spirited band accompanied by drum majorettes.
Children from the school also performed a number of recitals and dance performances that reflected the community’s admiration for Nelson Mandela.
During the handover Mr Mogotsi thanked the company for its donations and said that he looked forward to building a partnership with Pasdec.
