Historical Perspective

PAT was established in 1969 and was originally known as Mega Electrical. Growth in the South African automotive industry resulted in the need for a first tier harness supplier and the company underwent a series of ownership changes as it developed into a world-class OEM supplier.

In 1994 the company was owned by Auto Cable Industries until it was purchased in 1997 by the Malaysian based Pahang State Development Corporation (Pasdec).

Auto Cable Industries acquired Nippon (Pty) Ltd in 1998, a privately owned company supplying harnesses to Nissan South Africa. Nippon was then incorporated into Auto Cable Industries’ Brits plant in 2000.

Subsequently, the company was renamed Pasdec Automotive Technologies (Pty) Ltd.

Since 2002 the company has consolidated, whilst achieving considerable growth in terms of turnover and profitability.
